It is just amazing how little style mistakes can add years and also kilograms to your appearance. We all know a few of these fashion faux pas but sometimes we are finding it hard to avoid. I’m talking about wearing too much black for example. It hardly ever suited anyone to wear all black attires, especially if not accessorized properly; still many of us are making this mistake from time to time.
To make sure you always look fresh and stylish whatever your age is, we have researched and prepared a list of 7 things that make you look older so you can avoid them.
Hiding behind your clothes
It’s true that the fashion history started with Adam and Eve and the need to cover their naked bodies after the original sin, but those days are long gone now. You have nothing to hide, so when buying clothes concentrate on getting ones that compliment your body, not completely hide it away.
Wearing clothes that are not your size
If you are choosing to wear a bigger size in clothes than you actually need because it’s more comfortable or because you think it will mask some extra kilograms you’re not proud of, we can tell you it’s not worth it. It will make you look older and sometimes instead of erasing the extra weight, it will emphasize on it. Smaller clothes that are way too fitted are also not a wise choice. After a certain age, good cuts and fits should be preferred to tight fabrics that will make you look like you’ve borrowed your daughter’s T-shirts.
Choosing the wrong colors
Many of us tend to go for darker colors with age. If pink is suitable for the teen age years, after 30 women seem to be attracted to shades of brown, grey and black. But what most people are forgetting is that whatever you age, you should always wear just colors that compliment your skin tone. And usually darker colors, especially when worn on the upper side of your body will make your face look older. To avoid this, focus on combining a dark color bottom with a pastel or nude top.
Choosing the wrong accessories
Avoid covering your neck with statement necklaces or big scarves (unless the weather requires it) because you want to mask certain imperfections. Blouses and t-shirts with round or V necks will make your neck look longer and will give you a royal appearance.
Choosing the wrong lingerie
Just as important as your clothes are, the lingerie can ruin a look completely if not chosen carefully. The shape and size of your bra must be perfect in order for the tops to look good on you.
Wearing grandma’s style shoes
With age you might be tempted to put aside the pumps and the sandals with the high heels, but this doesn’t mean that your option should be old school flats. They will ruin your outfit and make you look older. If you want to give up high heels entirely, try a mid-heel that will be both comfortable and elegant.
If you’re not feeling great about yourself, or you feel exhausted, tired and old, this will affect your appearance, no matter how much you will try to hide it. In order to look your age (or even younger) you must work with yourself from the inside out!
